EAST AURORA, NY, March 24, 2021 – Astronics Corporation (Nasdaq: ATRO), a leading provider of advanced technologies for global aerospace, defense and other mission critical industries, announced today that it has begun shipping its new NG3 Avionics I/O Computers to the
United States Coast Guard (USCG) in support of the Minotaur program.

The NG3 is part of the NG Family, a new generation of secure Ballard Boxes for avionics interfacing and computing. These flexible COTS (Commercial-Off-The-Shelf) avionics computers feature low-power Intel 64-bit, quad-core E3950 processors and are densely packed with a variety of avionics and computer I/O.

“Astronics Ballard Technology has a long successful history of working with the USCG to provide reliable avionics interface solutions,” said Jon Neal, President of Astronics Advanced Electronic Systems. “We are proud to have them as the launch customer for this exciting new product. The NG Family provides our large installed base of users, like the USCG, with a direct upgrade path to 64-bit processing, robust security features and higher performance, extending the useful life of their programs for many years to come. The NG Family will also appeal to new users as flexible, problem-solving platforms for intelligence, surveillance, and C4ISR programs.”

The Coast Guard is outfitting its fixed wing surveillance aircraft with Minotaur mission system architecture. Minotaur incorporates sensors; radar; and command, control, communications, computers, cyber, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance equipment and enables aircrews to gather and process surveillance information that can be transmitted to other platforms and units during flight.
